Jakarta Gymnastics 2025: MAG Predictions – Who Will Shine?
Jakarta Gymnastics 2025:
MAG Predictions for the 7 competitions
The following analysis presents a series of prognostications regarding the potential outcomes of the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics competition at the 2025 World Championships in Jakarta. These forecasts are derived from a rigorous, if somewhat speculative, examination of available data. Specifically, we have considered the highest scores achieved on each apparatus and in the All-Around competition throughout the 2025 competitive season.
Further, personal bests and medal tallies of individual gymnasts have been factored into the equation. The evolution of routines under the recently implemented 2025-2028 MAG Code of Points has also been taken into account, as gymnasts adapt to its nuances in an attempt to maximize their scoring potential. The results, as they say, speak for themselves. Or, perhaps, they don’t. Proceed with a healthy dose of skepticism.

MAG Prediction: Overview
More than 250 gymnasts from 75 countries are scheduled to compete at the 2025 World Championships in Jakarta, with the objective of obtaining one or more of the 21 available medals. The lists below display the highest total scores attained by the registered gymnasts for Jakarta across each of the six events. This data is derived from scores achieved at FIG international meets and national championships in 2025. Potential contenders not featured in the top ten score list, or those who have yet to compete, are enumerated beneath each table.
All Around
In any competition, there are usually a few favorites, but surprises happen all the time. Everyone thought the All Around at the Paris 2024 Olympics would be all about Hashimoto Daiki and Zhang Boheng. In the end, it was the newcomer Oka Shinnosuke who took home the win.
It’s time for Hashimoto Daiki and Zhang Boheng to get some payback in the All-Around in Jakarta after what went down in Paris. Both of them have nailed the title at least once, while Oka Shinnosuke, the reigning Olympic Champion, hasn’t won a World Champion title, which is pretty wild.
In regard to the MAG predictions at the 2025 World Championships in Jakarta, attention will be focused on these three athletes. The two Japanese gymnasts have demonstrated their capability to achieve scores exceeding 85.000 under the new Code of Points, whereas Zhang Boheng’s highest all-around score stands at 83.200. However, the absence of comparable performances in continental championships for these three competitors complicates the predictive process significantly.
There is also potential for other gymnasts to cause an upset. Below is a list of athletes who are anticipated to secure a position within the Top 10, and potentially secure a place on the podium.

Parallel Bars
Zou Jingyuan has been totally crushing it in the Parallel Bars competitions since 2017. His difficulty level is off the charts, and his execution scores usually top 9.2, which is pretty rare for this event. Unless something freakish occurs (remember his “Tippelt” at the the 2019 Worlds in Stuttgart…), it seems that other gymnasts are resigned to fight for silver, and the field is quite open: many PB specialists, including newcomer Tsunogai Tomoharu, are neck and neck for the podium.
CONTENDERS | BEST SCORES 2025 | OVERVIEW |

High Bar
The last 2 Olympic finals have shown that anything can happen on the bar and that MAG Predictions are not a scientific discipline. One of the main favorites is Tang Chia-hung of Taiwan, who has displayed his capacity to create an innovative routine with an optimized D score. His triple back dismount is not as solid as the rest of the routine, but his 6.7 D score is currently the highest in the world. Ángel Barajas follows closely in terms of difficulty, yet his execution lacks consistency.
And of course, 3 Japanese gymnasts (Daiki, Shinnosuke and Tomoharu) excel on this apparatus, as evidenced by their impressive medal records. All these gymnasts could easily be challenged by, among others, Félix Dolci, Marios Georgiou, Milad Karimi, Carlo Macchini, Brody Malone and Tin Srbić.
CONTENDERS | BEST SCORES 2025 | OVERVIEW |
Tang Chia-hung (TPE) | 15.233 (Asian CHampionships EF) | One of the favorites for a medal on this event: he’s optimized his routine with the new COP and currently has the highest D score. |
Brody Malone (USA) | 15.200 (US Nationals) | 2022 World Champion; has recovered from a serious injury to qualify for the 2024 Olympics. One of the best HB specialists. |
Hashimoto Daiki (JPN) | 15.033 (All Japan AA) | 2020 Olympic Champion and 2023 World Champion. Disappointing results in Paris but has shown he’s back on track. |
Tsunogai Tomoharu (JPN) | 15.000 (Asian Championships EF) | His 1st senior year. Has already won silver on HB at the 2025 Asian Championships. 6.2 D score. |
Milad Karimi (KAZ) | 14.800 (Asian Championsips AA) | Regular finalist in major competitions and has won billions of medals in World Cups since 2017. 2020 Olympic finalist. |

Félix Dolci (CAN) | 14.633 (FISU EF) | Multi-medalist on HB; he won gold at the FISU Games, beating Olympic Champion Hashimoto Daiki. One of the best Canadians. |
Oka Shinnosuke (JPN) | 14.600 (FISU Teams) | Current Olympic Champion (one of the 2 gymnasts who didn’t fall in the final). Solid and clean HB worker. |
Zhang Boheng (CHN)) | 14.466 (China Nationals Teams Final) | One of the best All-Arounders, and a solid HB worker. Bronze medalist in Paris 2024 and 2022 Asian Games Champion. |
Joe Fraser (GBR) | 14.433 (Paris WC QX) | Maybe more known for his skills on PB, but has secured a good number of medals on HB too. Clean work. |
