The world of men’s gymnastics is full of passion, power, and precision, where athletes spin and soar, their bodies twisting and turning in mid-air. It’s a world that may be a mystery to some, but for those involved, it’s an intoxicating realm of creativity, discipline, and athletic achievement.
There’s an enchanting complexity to this sport, that goes well beyond raw athleticism: it is a harmonious blend of power and poise, a symphony of strength, suppleness, stability, and self-control. The six events – floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar – each put a unique spin on these elements.
Zhoxxyy’s articles encompass a wide range of topics : news, recaps of meets with data analysis regarding difficulty and execution scores, tools to understand how routines are judged, interviews, and opinion pieces about all types of subjects related to this discipline. As a former gymnast, my objective is to highlight the discipline’s best features and to enhance its comprehension: the sphere of men’s gymnastics is ever-evolving, brimming with fresh talent that continuously pushes the boundaries and sets new benchmarks. Each event is a unique challenge, demanding its own skillset and techniques. Yet, they all share the same essence: the pursuit of perfection. Every twist, every flip, every handstand, it all counts. “Zhoxxyy” started with an Instagram account launched in 2016 by Yann, a former gymnast, now based in Paris, who has always followed competitions and news about the sport. The first live coverage was at the 2018 World Championships in Doha. Since then, his objective has been to pay tribute to the dedication and discipline required to master each skill and to cover gymnastics’ combination of artistry, strength, and precision.
After retiring, Yann chose a different path and earned a Master II in Political Science at the University of Oxford and a Master II in Real Estate Engineering at the University of Paris-X.
“Zhoxxyy” doesn’t have a definition in any language, so the standard reply to the question “What does it mean?” is “It means Men’s Gymnastics in a language that remains to be created”.
