Overview of the 2025 Paris Cup Men’s Gymnastics Results

The Paris Cup usually attracts each year a wide range of talents: in Men’s Gymnastics, 6 Olympic medalists and several medalists at Continental Championships competed to win one of the 24 medals at stake at the Paris World Cup:

Highest Difficulty, Execution and Total Scores

The 2025 Paris Cup Men’s Gymnastics Results show that some of the scores achieved in the competition have been established as the highest scores of 2025:

– Gabriele Targheta (ITA) now holds the highest total score of the year on the Pommel Horse in qualififcations, achieving a score of 15.166.
– Nariman Kurbanov (KAZ) occupies the second position with 15.100, and attained the highest difficulty score of the year, which stands at 6.2.

– Angel Barajas (COL) now occupies the second position for the highest total score on Parallel Bars, achieving a score of 15.033. He trails behind Zou Jingyuan of China, a two-time Olympic Champion in this apparatus, who consistently attains execution scores exceeding 9.100.

– Tang Chia-hung (TPE) executed an impressive routine on the Horizontal Bar, achieving a difficulty score of 6.7. Despite experiencing a fall during his dismount while performing a Fardan (rated G), he successfully secured the bronze medal in the final.

Gaps Between Qualifications and Finals

The 2025 Paris Cup Men’s Gymnastics Results show significant changes in the rankings noted between the qualification rounds and the event finals. While 11 of the 18 medalists in the finals were ranked within the top three during the qualification phase, several unexpected outcomes and surprises occurred.

– Floor: well, no major change on this apparatus; the top 3 in qualifications ended up winning gold, silver and bronze in the same order…

– Pommel Horse: Olympic Silver medalist Nariman Kurbanov (KAZ) improved his execution score and snatched the gold medal, whereas European Champion Hamlet Manukyan (ARM) advanced from sixth to second place.

– Rings: Olympic finalist Glen Cuyle (BEL) improved his score by 0.533, surpassing Kaneta Kiichi (JPN), who also raised his score by two-tenths. Glen’s twin brother, Nicola, enhanced his total score by 0.366; however, he was unable to surpass the three medalists, all of whom performed better in the final.

– Vault: Thomas Grasso (ITA) maintained his leading position notwithstanding a slight reduction in points, while Tseng Wei-Sheng (TPE) and Sebastian Sponevik (NOR) advanced from fifth and sixth places, respectively, to secure the silver and bronze medals.

– Parallel Bars: All gymnasts, with the exception of gold medalist Joe Fraser (GBR), experienced a decline in their scores between QX and the final. However, Florian Langenegger (SUI), who was ranked eighth in the qualifications, exhibited remarkable consistency by losing only two tenths and advanced from 8th place to secure the bronze medal.

– High Bar: Carlo Macchini exhibited a high level performance, ultimately securing the gold medal, surpassing Kévin Carvahlo (FRA) and Tang Chia-hung (TPE), who had previously earned bronze in this event at last year’s Olympics despite experiencing a fall too. Notably, Tang Chia-hung’s difficulty score is remarkably high (6.7), such that even a fall, which incurs a one-point penalty, is insufficient to eliminate him from medal consideration.

Belgian twin brothers Glen and Nicola Cuyle are both members of the National team and participated in the Paris Cup. They both qualified for the Rings final, and Glen won the gold medal. Nicola also demonstrated a commendable performance, securing 5th place. It is not uncommon for siblings, and even twins, to compete alongside one another in significant international competitions; notable examples include Paul and Morgan Hamm (USA) and Gabriele & Robert Burtănete (ROU). Recently, several pairs of brothers have competed in the same event: Eddie & Kevin Penev (BUL), Artur & Vahagn Davtyan (ARM), Luca & Matteo Giubelini (SUI) and Kakeru & Wataru Tanigawa (JPN).
