2025 European Championships Men’s Scores Review
EDITOR’S NOTE
All data and scoring information based on the documents released by the official European Gymnastics website (UEG)
In this 2025 European Championships Men’s Scores Review, the predominant observation is the overall decline in both Difficulty and Total Scores:
– In accordance with the new Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Code of Points (2025-2028), the difficulty value of a routine is now determined by the combined total of the eight elements with the highest value, as opposed to ten in the previous Olympic cycle; while certain new regulations may assist gymnasts in enhancing their Difficulty score, it is noteworthy that, in general, difficulty scores seldom attain the 6.0 threshold.
– Furthermore, all vaults have been subject to a downgrading of 0.4.

Apparatus Scores Review
These represent the highest scores for Difficulty, Execution, and Total achieved throughout the entire competition, excluding the mixed finals. Great Britain has been noted 9 times, followed by Türkiye with 4, and Switzerland with 3.
Although certain elements have been upgraded in the 2025-2028 Code of Points, the highest difficulty scores have, on average, decreased by 5 tenths compared to the 2024 European Championships. Nevertheless, the highest execution scores have remained relatively consistent.

All-Around Scores Review
Best Scores per Apparatus
Adem Asil (TUR) has been crowned the 2025 All-Around Champion and is duly recognized in the rankings on four occasions. He is followed by Noe Seifert (SUI), who achieved first place during the qualifications and possesses considerable expertise on the Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar. Anthony Mansard (FRA), who competed for the first time as a senior, got the highest execution and total score on Horizontal Bar in the All-Around (and won bronze in the event final).

Gap between Scores in Qualification and All-Around
In the qualifications, Adem Asil (TUR) achieved a ranking of sixth, whereas Léo Saladino (FRA) secured the eighteenth position, following multiple falls on the Floor and High Bar events. Ultimately, the gold and silver medalists demonstrated significant improvements in their total scores, reflecting the largest scores improvements in the competition. Noe Seifert (SUI), who ranked 1st in Qualifications, attained a commendable score exceeding 80.000 in the final, but was unable to surpass the gymnasts who finished in the top five.

Teams Scores Review
This 2025 European Championships Men’s Scores review examines the average and total Difficulty (D) and Execution (E) scores within the Teams competition. Each team consists of a maximum of five gymnasts, with four eligible to compete; only the top three scores on each apparatus are utilized for the calculation of the teams’ overall scores.
As a result, some routines with a high D or E scores can be ignored if the total score is not in the team’s top 3. Average D and E scores are consequently based on the 3 best routines scores on each event.
The graphs presented below offer a comprehensive analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each team. Great Britain attained the gold medal due to exceptionally high difficulty scores in the floor exercise, alongside consistently superior performances across the other five apparatuses. Team GB’s total difficulty score of 94.9 surpasses that of Switzerland by 5 points. The only country with a difficulty score exceeding 90 is Germany, which stands at 90.1.
The British team also demonstrated commendable execution scores; however, the silver medalists, Switzerland, attained a total execution score of 155.627, which exceeds that of Great Britain by 3.5 points. Ultimately, Team Great Britain triumphed with a total score of 247.528, while Switzerland finished with a score of 245.727, indicating a margin of -1.801.
In terms of execution, four countries surpassed the British team’s overall execution score: Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and Hungary. But Artistic Gymnastics is a fair balance between the difficulty of the routines and the quality of the execution.

Focus on Stuck Landing Bonus and Impact on the Competition
This 2025 European Championships Men’s Scores Review serves as an opportunity to evaluate the implications of a newly instituted regulation within the 2025-208 Code of Points: the bonus for a stuck landing. Gymnasts are granted an additional 0.1 point if they execute a successful stick on their landing (or final tumbling pass on the Floor) when performing on the Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, and Horizontal Bar (for elements rated C+).
In total, 105 bonuses were awarded during the competition. Gymnasts demonstrated especially commendable performances on the High Bar, securing 29 bonuses, and on the Rings, where they achieved 27 bonuses.
Léo Saladino (FRA) secured the silver medal in the All-Around competition, sticking his landing on three occasions (FX, PB, and HB), which contributed an additional 0.3 points to his score. In the absence of these bonuses, his total would have been 81.130, placing him in third position behind Krisztofer Mészáros (HUN), who ultimately earned the bronze medal.

Gymnasts can now have deductions and a bonus in the same routine. At the 2025 European Championships, five gymnasts successfully performed their final tumbling pass on Floor and each received a +0.1 bonus, yet all also went out of bounds, incurring a loss of either 0.1 or 0.3 point. Regarding Timo Eder (GER), in the Parallel Bars final, he was assessed a 0.3 penalty for exceeding his touch warm-up by three seconds; however, he successfully executed his landing, earning a +0.1. Ultimately, he secured a bronze medal, but could have potentially achieved gold had he not received this penalty.

Neutral Deductions
This review of the 2025 European Championships Men’s Scores indicates that the D Jury issued a total of 127 neutral deductions, amounting to 27.6 points. In contrast, the 2024 season saw 88 penalties assessed to gymnasts, totaling 26.5 points; however, the competition format was different, as the team event incorporated both qualifications and finals.

Competing Brothers
Four pairs of brothers competed in Leipzig:
– Kevin Penev (BUL) qualified for the Floor final and finished 5th.
– Luca and Matteo Giubellini (SUI) won the silver medal in the teams competition. Luca aso competed in the floor final and Matteo ranked 10th in the All-Around final.
– Robert Kirmes (Fin) was qualified for the Pommel Horse final.
– Vahagn Davtyan (ARM) ranked 7th in the Rings final while his brother Artur won the Vault final
