Highest Execution, Difficulty and Total Scores by Apparatus in Men’s Gymnastics
Men’s Gymnastics : The content provides a thorough overview of the highest scores achieved in different apparatus at the 2023 World Championships.

First we have the highest Difficulty, Execution and Total Scores by apparatus throughout the entire competition (including qualifications and all finals). Of course, the highest Total Score in the stats are not the automatic addition of the highest D and E scores previously listed, since they were obtained most of time by different gymnasts. There some interesting numbers, confirming that scores are a subtle balance between difficulty and execution.

On Floor Exercise, there is no major surprise, except Artur Davtyan’s (ARM) highest Execution Score in qualifications, whereas his routine was ranked 86th with a total score of 13.2333. Artur is known for the quality of his performances and he’s a solid All Arounder (he finished in 4th position at the 2023 European Championships) and in 16th place in these qualifications. Finally, it paid off and he secured his spot to Paris this way. The current Olympic champion on this event Artem Dolgopyat (ISR) got the highest Total Score in the event final and won his first gold medal at a World Championship, after two silver medals in 2017 and 2019.

The apparatus was unsurprisingly totally dominated by the current Olympic and World champions on this apparatus: Max Whitlock, OBE (GBR) and Rhys McClenaghan, BEM (IRL). 6.9 was the highest Difficulty Score in the entire competition across all events.

Just like on Floor Exercise, the highest Execution Score was achieved by a gymnast with a Difficulty Score lower than the specialists’: Patrick Sampaio (BRA) got a 9.066 (E) and a 4.3 Difficulty Score.

Jake Jarman (GBR) did one of the best vaults ever in the All Around competition, combining Difficulty and Execution. 6.0 is the highest Difficulty Score on Vault and several gymnasts performed one of the 5 vaults with this start value. The 2022 World Champion on Vault, Artur Davtyan (ARM) reached an outstanding 9.533 in the event final; unfortunately, he was eventually penalized by a major mistake on his first vault.

Illia Kovtun (UKR) and Lukas Dauser (GER) are both very strong Parallel Bars specialists. Their records on this event helped them get a silver medal in the All Around for Illia and a gold medal in the Parallel Bars final for Lukas.

High bar is an interesting case: Hamza Hossaini (MAR) had both the highest Execution and the lowest Difficulty Scores on this apparatus (1.9). He was ranked last on this event in qualifications, while Hashimoto Daiki (JAP), with a 6.7, won gold in the event final (after winning the All Around competition a few days earlier.
